Update... It's about time!

Hello everyone! Been a while since I posted anything and so at the encouragement of my marketing manager I thought I'd write a bit about what I've been up to over the last few months. 

Jersey Shore Cookbook!!!

Without a doubt the biggest news I have is that I just completed shooting an entire cookbook based on recipes featuring summery, "Jersey Fresh" ingredients. 50 chefs from the Jersey shore contributed to this book and I had the great pleasure of traveling to each place and meeting these amazing people. From Keyport to Cape May I visited places like Joe Leone's, The Gables Inn, The Ebbitt Room, The Lobster House, The Chicken or The Egg, Black-Eyed Susans, Louisa's Cafe and more! 

The book is being published by Quirk Books out of Philadelphia and distributed by Penguin Random House! Look for it on shelves this coming spring 2016!!! (I'm sure I'll have a link or two here as well!)

But wait, there's more!

In addition to the monumental undertaking that was shooting the cookbook I've been enjoying a variety of other work. The latest edition of Edible Jersey has 3 articles with imagery provided by me. One of which is at the top of this post, the great guys of Radicle Farms and their amazing living salad greens! Really cool meeting those guys. I also had the opportunity to photograph the White House's former pastry chef Thaddeus DuBois who currently resides as the Borgata's official pastry chef!

I also had the opportunity to shoot a few wonderful weddings this summer (I will post a few selects from them in the coming posts) and a myriad of other fun stuff for product and architectural clients.

First is my ad, not bad placement I must say. Also of note, the wedding detail of the top hat with the scrabble letters spelling out LOVE was shot at The Fernbrook Bed & Breakfast which is mentioned predominantly in Max Hansen's ad and I am a preferred vendor there as well :)

Lilly Salvatore! My wife and I have been going to Lilly's on the Canal since we first started dating and it was a real treat for me to get to meet and photograph her at her newest restaurant, Lilly's Meals in Stockton. 

Blake and Trixie are an unstoppable duo, just look at all those awards that they've won together (and that wasn't all of them!) Really fun shoot on a beautiful fall Bucks Co day...

Thanks as always to the good people of Bucks Life. I understand the next issue will be all about food, so you know I can't wait to get started on that!

1.20.12: Two features in Bucks Life Magazine :)

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing Kristin Meil, of Meil's in Stockton, NJ, along with her daughter Sarah, and Kristin's pups Yogi and Blueberry for a feature on Kristin's venture into home-cooked meals for dogs: K9-Meils for Bucks Life Magazine. 

A few days later I again had the pleasure of photographing a feature for Bucks Life. This time of chef Fabian Quiros of Salt Creek Grill in Princeton. They did a 2 page feature of chef highlighting one of his favorite recipes: Rib-Eye with Coffee and Chocolate Rub and a Bourbon Caramel Sauce! It was dinner and dessert all in one! 

Here are a few screenshots from the online version of the winter issue. I haven't seen it in stands yet, but keep and eye out and pick it up if you see it. Lots of great chef's featured including our friend Sam Jacobson of Sycamore in Landsdowne! Also keep an eye out for the print ad our friend Tara Devlin Kearns did for me (she also did my logo!)

Worlds collide! 

Many of you that know me know I've been in the service industry in one capacity or another since the age of 13 and some may even know that for a short time I thought of going to culinary school. Thanks to the kind interest of one C.I.A. (Culinary Institute of America) grad, I got the chance to prep in a working kitchen, and even cook once (on a Friday night no less) and discovered that cooking for a living wasn't for me. Cooking for pleasure is a totally different matter, however, and I am truly blessed to be marrying a woman that is equally as passionate (if not more so) about real food with ingredients anyone can pronounce and sourcing as much of it as possible locally.

So when Michele Pulaski, chef/owner of DiSH Catering (and our caterer), referred me to Nina Planck author of Real Food: What to Eat and Why I was obviously beside myself with excitement. Below are a few of my favorite images of the Seder dinner recipe shoot.

4.5.11 Pic theme: Chocolate update

Hey there, thanks for stopping by to take a look at these yummy treats. I can tell from the trusty google tracking softwares that people are stopping by here regularly despite my pathetic post rate. There are just so many outlets out there it's difficult to post everywhere and frankly a little boring to post the same things on each site. So I'm mixing it up a bit. 

Anyway, a lot has been going on. I have become a preferred vendor at a few more places and wedding interest and bookings are up. :) I just installed a showcase at Rittenhouse Square's Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel and a "meet the artist" party will be announced soon. I've been shooting parties as well (I'll be at the Moshulu tonight for a corporate gig...foul weather and the high seas, arrrrgh) and I've recently had a chance to indulge in more commercial work shooting offerings from a well known wedding invitation designer, a nationally represented artist's work, and most recently FOOD! I've always wanted to get more involved with food photography and have done a few shoots for caterers and restaurants over the years and now I can add Chocolatier to my list :)
